Introduction

For my first post, I'd like to discuss my intentions with this blog a little more. I recently began to follow the news regarding accounting for one of my courses, which has become a new hobby. I wanted to create a blog that would allow me to express my opinions and understanding of certain events and explain them to people who may not be familiar with them. I am also a current student in Business Honors at A&M, and for the program am required to complete a project over our years in school. With my background in accounting and finance, I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to create a blog that would allow me to provide useful information to others.

With that said, I'd like to begin with a little bit more about myself. I'm a current senior accounting major at A&M, and one interesting fact is that I grew up in College Station, so I've lived here my whole life. I have one older sister who went to UT, and my parents are former Aggies. I chose accounting as a major because I had always been interested in finance and the stock market from a younger age and as I learned more about the career paths under accounting, I declared it my major. I have been pleased with my decision, and the different internships and exposure I have gotten are amazing. I have interned in a sales and use tax office in accounting and at Phillips 66 energy company in their financial planning division. I will spend my next semester working in DC for PwC in their financial markets group, which I am excited about, and I plan on talking about that experience through this blog as well.

I wanted to conclude my first post with some background about myself and what I plan to discuss. Writing has never been my strongest skill but this blog will be a way to improve one of my weaknesses and hopefully post insightful information.
